> New game: Jan Ken POP!
Hey everyone!
First of all, sorry for the delay. I know it’s been a while since the last update, but this new game took way more time than expected. I actually had to start from scratch twice.
Yeah, TWICE.
Between bugs, weird gameplay ideas that didn’t work, and redesigns, it became a bit of a wild ride — but finally, the first level is ready!
> The game:
The game is called Jan Ken Pop, and it’s a puzzle game inspired by Tetris and good ol’ Columns (the Sega Genesis classic), but with a twist: instead of matching colors or shapes, you break blocks using the rock-paper-scissors system.
Stone beats scissors, scissors beat paper, paper beats stone. It adds a nice layer of strategy that keeps you on your toes.
Each level features a different girl, and your goal is to complete specific objectives to unlock pieces of her outfit.
As you play, she’ll react to your combos, score bonuses, or mistakes — it adds a fun layer of personality to the game.
When you break blocks, you charge a skill bar that lets you clear an entire row of blocks — super handy when you’re about to lose.
There’s also a score multiplier that increases as long as you keep breaking stuff… but if you go a round without breaking any block, it drops.
Right now there’s only one level, but I’m already working on more — with new girls, challenges, and surprises to keep things fresh. 😉
> What’s still in the works?
- The game is still in an early state. The first level is pretty polished, but I’m planning to add more features like penalties for bad moves, or alternate win conditions so every session feels a bit different.
- The main menu is very simple for now. I’ll redesign it later — for now I focused on the core gameplay loop.
- The idea is: once you unlock all the clothes for a character, you’ll unlock a special interactive scene with that girl. Still working on this, but it’s gonna be worth it. 😏
- The animations are kinda rough right now. I’m using a limited version of Spine, and I’ll upgrade to the full version as soon as I can. It’s around $300, which is a lot where I live, but once I get it, I’ll totally redo the animations to make everything smoother and more expressive.
- The user interface is still pretty bare-bones. Menus, buttons, and visual elements work fine, but they definitely need a makeover to feel more polished and give the game a unique visual identity. Same goes for the sound design — right now it’s using some basic or placeholder sounds. I’m planning to find better sound effects to bring more life and feedback to the game overall.

You can try the game using THIS link. Just a heads-up: you’ll need a “Silver” tier or higher Patreon subscription to access it.
Thanks for sticking around and supporting my work — I really appreciate it! Hope you enjoy Jan Ken Pop — there’s more cool stuff coming soon!
